ePortfolios in Canvas: a view from inside an online course (Kathleen Chambers and Sara Newman, NSCC)

Kathleen introduced us to ePortfolios as an online repository for work, as well as a way to organize that work. ePortfolios are available to anyone with a Canvas account, and their navigation and structure can be customized.

Kathleen's example: her photography students use ePortfolios to organize and submit practice photos, as well as receive feedback from instructor and peers.

Notes about ePortfolios:

Students can make as many portfolios as they want to
Portfolio is attached to the Canvas user's account, not to any particular course
Work will persist after courses are concluded
Portfolio authors can choose whether or not they want to share comments with all viewers
Might be useful for students that want to archive their work for transfer or application to grad school
