Plagiarism Tools/Techniques

Here are links to tools/techniques used to teach students about  plagiarism:

  • Our librarians' libguide on plagiarism Links to an external site. has some very useful tools.
  • Davis Oldham shared this on the faculty list serve:  "Here is the address for the plagiarism home page: https://www.indiana.edu/~tedfrick/plagiarism Links to an external site.. From here, you can read the definition of plagiarism, take the practice tests, take the certificate test, and more.... I’ve checked it out, and it is indeed a valuable site. I’d actually been using a flyer produced by the same University (Indiana), but the site she [a former student] sent me is much more thorough and interactive. There are dozens of practice tests  you can take (3 questions each), and a thoroughgoing explanation of what plagiarism is, along with a  10-question test that can earn you a certificate if you get 9 of the 10 correct. The certificate is pretty interesting. I’ve copied the text below for those who are interested. I think I’m going to start incorporating it in my 101 and 102 classes. I’ll start this quarter by offering extra credit for students who earn a certificate, and later may make it a regular assignment. The test is free for any non-profit use."
